Gamewiz and Dr. Gamewiz and all titles are for the exclusive usage of the Gamewiz Corporation. Welcome to the fourth version of the Gamewiz Chrono Trigger FAQ! Chrono Trigger was noted as the game that was actually supposed to outdo Final Fantasy 3. Most people who I've talked to say that Chrono Trigger just didn't live up to their expectations. But for me, Chrono Trigger was just right. It created a new type of RPG: one that combined the overworld elements of Secret of Mana and the battle mechanics of Final Fantasy 3. Coupled with the its great storyline and interesting characters, I think Chrono Trigger really did what I wanted it to do, although it may not have been what other people expected. Anyway, just my opinion on the subject. :) In this version of the FAQ, I've compiled the following items: * Complete Walkthrough * Item/Armor/Weapon Lists * Boss Strategies * Steal (Charm) List * Character Descriptions * Complete Tech list * Monster List * WolfLobe Glitch * BRAND NEW Ending List! * MORE GG Codes! The only significant addition to this version of the FAQ is the updated Monster/Treasure Chart. I thank FFfanNo1 for all his hard work and wish him luck after he leaves AOL. :) That should be enough to help any of you Chrono fans out there! :) Well, I hope you enjoy the FAQ, and I'll see you in the next update! ~~GWS Wizard~~ VERSION HISTORY Version 1.0 - By GWS Wizard - First version of the Chrono Trigger FAQ. Gaspar, the Guru of Time, was stranded here, this will become your base of operations. 1999 A.D. - The infamous Day of Lavos, when Lavos burst from the center of the earth, causing lava bombs to destroy the Earth's crust. 65 million B.C. - This is the time Lavos fell to Earth. You'll find Ayla here. Her people are fighting the reptites. 12,000 B.C. - The world is in an ice age. But in the skies, rules the Magical Kingdom of Zeal. The enlightened ones live in Zeal while the non-magic using Earthbound ones live in a village known as Algetty. This is where Magus and the three gurus are from. The queen here is corrupted by Lavos, which is the power source of Zeal. **Walkthrough** 1000 A.D. You start in Crono's home. Go downstairs and get your allowance from Crono's mom. Go to the mayor's house and get the money from the second floor. Talk to the people if you want to learn something. Go to the south continent to the Porre Shop. Buy whatever defense items you can afford. Do not buy the sword. Now go to the fair. Go directly up. Bump into the girl. This is Marle. Grab the pendant that is flung away from her and return it her. She'll ask you to join her, and being the gentleman you are, you should say yes. Head over to Gaurdia Forest and fight the Hetakes (the mushroom looking things) and build your level to at least five. Go to the lower lower right part of the forest. You'll see a sparkling object. Press "A" above it and receive a power tab. Go back to the fair and earn silver points. However you like. you can fight Gato, bet on the races, the hammer challenge or the soda guzzling contest. Trade the points for gold and when you have enough, buy the a lode sword from Melchior. The Sword will help a lot. Four things to do at the fair. Don't ask Marle to sell her pendant. Have the cat follow you to the little girl. Don't take the pink package near the old man. And when you go to see Lucca's invention, Marle will want candy. Wait until she buys something. Don't move until then. This will help you prove your innocence later on. You will want to get the clone buy paying 40 silver points at the Tent of Horrors if you want Crono back later. Get the cat for 80 points if you want kittens. Keep paying 80 points for cat food. When you get enough, your cats will have kittens. When you are ready, go to north to Lucca's invention. When Taban finishes talking, talk to Lucca and use the telepod then talk to Marle. She will disappear. Get her pendant and go into the past. Don't go into the right telepod or you will die at the hands of Lavos. 600 A.D. You'll find yourself in a canyon. Go to the upper left and you will be attacked by Imps. They're fairly easy and can't do more than ten points of damage each. Kill them and go though the upper left corner. Continue moving, fight whatever enemies and exit. Go to each building and talk to everyone. Now go through Guardia forest. TIP: when you see bushes rustling press "A" in front of them and be attacked or get a shelter. At the lower left part of the forest you will see two sparkling objects. Don't go for the lower one. It will cause two roly riders to appear. Anyway, go north and go to Guardia Castle. You will be stopped by soldiers but Queen Leene will stop them from doing anything. Go talk to everyone, but do not open any chests in the castle...you can get better stuff in 1000 A.D. Now head for the Queen's room which is to the right of the thrones. Talk to the Queen to discover she is really Marle. She will disappear. Head downstairs and meet Lucca. She will tell you that Marle is actually Princess Nadia in 1000 A.D., but history has been changed because of the time warp. Now you must rescue the real queen to get Marle back. Go to the Truce store and upgrade whatever you need to. You will need two shelters, about twenty tonics and maybe a revive or two. Build up Lucca until she learns Flame Toss. Go to the Cathedral and talk to the nun near the organ. You will then see a sparkling object. Pick it up and you'll be attacked by the nuns, who are really naga-ettes. Use the Fire Whirl combo to kill them easily. When you do, a hidden naga-ette will appear and strike Lucca. Frog will come to the rescue. Join him and leave. Go to Guardia forest and build up Frog until he gets Slurp Cut and learns the X-Strike combo. Play the organ to open up a secret door. Go to the right and go north. Open the door and open the chests. Equip whatever upgrades you obtain. Go to the drawer with the egg on it and press "A". You will get the secret naga-ette bromide. You will be attacked. The bromide will not appear on your inventory list, but don't worry, you have it. above is a door surrounded by spikes. Use the skull on the wall to lower them. Go inside once you have done that and take the tab in the bucket on your left. Go to the left into the monsters' dining hall. The upper room contains three monsters. Try to leave and you will be attacked. Go to the right to find a door...don't talk to the monsters. Go up and open the chests. Leave and go to the center door. There is a save spot. Save and use a shelter if you need to. Go to the right and fall down the stairs. Go up and push the skull. Go around and back to the save spot. Go to the door above and you'll be attacked. Destroy them and play the organ. Now go around and you'll find a new door. Run though the enemies and to the save spot. If you need to, fight. Use a shelter and save. Now go though the door to fight the Yakra. The Yakra is easy if your levels aren't too low. Use X-strike and Flame Toss. Recover with tonics. The fight shouldn't last more than ten rounds. Open the chests to find an item and the real chancellor. At Guardia Castle, Frog will leave. Go to the queen's room to get Marle. Go to the canyon where the gate was. Lucca will open it with the gate key and you will return to your own time. 1000 A.D. Take Marle home to the castle. You will be arrested for kidnapping the princess. Now the trial will start. Depending on what you did in the fair you will be pronounced guilty or innocent. Either way you will be sent to jail and set up to be executed. When in the prison cell, drink from the cup and take the pack. Don't bother the guards. And if you do, don't hit the guard back. If you do, you'll have to fight every guard in the prison. Wait for execution. Lucca will burst in and knock the guards out. Outside, release the man. He is Fritz, the Truce merchant's son. He will give you stuff later. Look at the unconscious guards to get Mid Tonics. When you see the supervisor on the floor, look at him for five Mid Tonics. Read the top secret document on the floor. Now go out. You will fight the Dragon Tank. To destroy the dragon tank, attack the head with weapons. Fire won't hurt the head, so don't use Fire Whirl or Flame Toss. After you destroy the head, go for the grinder. Then destroy the body. You'll now be joined by Marle again and you will run into the woods. You'll find a gate. Open it and escape from the guards. 2300 A.D. You find yourself in the Bangor dome with a sealed door and the gate. Don't bother going back to Gaurdia Forest through the gate: the woods are blocked. Go south to the Trann dome and buy whatever you need and talk to the people. Use the Enertron and go north to Lab 16. Caution: If you stay outside too long, you'll take damage. Pass through the lab and open any chests you find. They will contain weapons and useful items. Don't touch the rats or they'll steal Tonics from you. The shadows can only be hurt by magic, so use Fire Whirl to kill all of them at once. Through the lab, you'll see Arris dome. They are waiting for food to be delivered from the basement. Use the Enertron and save. Go to the basement and look at the rat. Keep moving and fight the Guardian and it's two Bits. Don't attack the Guardian or be hit with a counterattack. Get rid of the bits first, recovering when you need to. When the bits are gone, hit the guardian hard and fast. If it's count- down reaches zero, it revives the bits. Repeat this method to thrash the Gaurdian. When you reach the food compartment, you'll find a room full of spoiled food and a dead man clutching some seeds. Take the seeds and take another look at him to read a note about a rat. Chase the rat and press "A" to catch him. He'll tell the secret code of the info center. Go to the right console and press "L" and "R" at the same time press "A". Go through the maze and find the central computer. You see the time gate is in the Proto Dome. Marle presses another button and you watch in horror as Lavos comes from the Core and destroys the world. There you decide to change time to prevent the Day of Lavos. You give the seeds to Doan for the Jet Bike key. Go to Lab 32 to the east. You can go through Sewer Access to meet Belthasar in the Keeper's Dome but, you won't get anything from him. In Lab 32, you meet Johnny, an insect-like robot. Race him. Doesn't matter if he's winning for the beginning but went the very top meter reads about 20, you must turbo boost in front of him to win. When you win, go back into the race course on foot and get the race log. You don't need this device since it only records your race scores, but if you get high scores, you can be rewarded. Go east then south into the Proto Dome. There is an Enertron inside if you need it, but you must fight two groups of debuggers. First a group of three and then a group of four. Keep going up to find a robot. This is Robo. Lucca will repair him and he will join you. Since the door to the gate is unpowered, a party of three must go to the factory to power the door and one person must stay to keep it open. I suggest taking Marle. The Aura Whirl combo will come in handy. Go to factory and have Robo deactivate the laser. An acid will fall and you'll have to fight him. Be careful. It has about 10 HP but it has an unbelievably high defense rate. Go to the right elevator. Enter the conveyor belt and touch a robot. The crane will pick you up and deposit you on another conveyor belt. You must fight through three rooms of debuggers and Proto 3s. When you finish, the conveyor belt drops you off. Go down and fight the bugs. Go to the computer room on the right to learn the crane control codes. Go to the left to the crane con- trols. Press "B","B" to remove one barrel and "X","A" to remove the other barrel. Go to the room you couldn't access before because of the barrels and use the computer. It will tell you the power activation code. Go back up and go to the left elevator to the lab. You'll fight alkalines and acids. Destroy the monster that has only one in it's number since they can do a powerful combo attack. Use the computer to open the hatch. Continue until you reach another computer access it, fight the monsters and go down. activate the power by pressing "X","A","B","Y" at the last computer. Pull the switch to power up. Then run out since the security will go haywire. Run to the exit. You will be stopped by Robo's old friends. They will scrap him for being a defect and come after you. Two cyclones will destroy three robots. Use Aura and Aura Whirl when you need to recover. You will take Robo to Lucca to be fixed. Go through the door and into the Gate, which will malfunction and send you elsewhere. The End of Time You end up in a room with three pillars of light. Go down to the door and talk to the old man. You are at The End of Time, where lost time travelers end up. Go up and the old man will say "Hey". Always talk to the old man when he says that. It means he has new info. Now he will tell you to go behind him. The door will be unlocked and you will see a furry creature. This is Spekkio. Answer his question and run around the room clockwise to learn magic. Don't fight him yet. He is tough. The old man says to go to 1000 A.D., but don't. Go to Mystic Mountain. Go to the right and down try to avoid fights. These enemies are extremely hard right now. Go east and visit each hut. One has a woman that will give you sweet water that recovers HP/MP. Go north to the hunting grounds and wait until it rains. Look for a blue creature. Talk to him to fight him. He is a Nu. He cannot kill you. His attacks only bring you HP down to 1. He has 1234 HP defeat him to get 30 tech points, around 200 exp. three petals, feathers, fangs and horns. The first time you beat him, he gives you a third eye. Do this until you learn triple tech delta force and learn Robo's Heal Beam. Then go to 1000 A.D. 1000 A.D. You come out of a closet in a home of some Imps. They won't fight you. If you plead with the merchant or innkeeper, you'll have to fight. Go to the mayor's house. The lower floor has a tab on the kitchen counter and another on a desk upstairs. Go west to Melchoir's hut. Buy upgrades and Mid Tonics from him. You will need them. About 20 should do. Go north into the cave. Fight through the enemies until you reach the save point. Prepare for a grueling battle with the Heckran. Magic will hurt but don't use weapons, unless you want to die. Use delta force to drain his energy. Use single techs when you need to use Aura Whirl. Defeat him to find out about the connection between Lavos and the Magus. Jump in the pool behind the chamber and go to Lucca's house. If Taban isn't near the door, go see Lucca's mom. Wait till Taban comes up and leaves. Go down and get the Taban Helm from him. Visit Fritz, if you saved him, at the market. He will give you 10 Mid Ethers. Go to the Fair and use the gate to 600 A.D. 600 A.D. Go to the bridge and talk to the knight captain. Then go to the kitchen in Guardia castle and talk to the chef. When you leave, he will give you a power tab and a jerky. Take the jerky and give it to the captain. A guard will come warning that Magus' troops are launching an attack. Talk to the knight captain and say you'll help to get a gold helm. Go across the bridge and meet Ozzie. Don't hit him, and use magic on the skeletons. At the end, you'll fight Zombor. Attack the lower body with Fire Sword. When you kill the lower half, he'll do a doom attack that drains some energy. Recover and attack the head with Ice Sword. When you kill him, he will use MP Buster to drain all of one member's MP. Recover at an the Inn and continue. In the house with sparkling locked drawer, look at the drawer and talk to the old man. He'll trade you the secret naga-ette bromide for a tab. Continue south and head into the Denadoro Mountains. Go through the mountains. When you meet the creature that looks like Spekkio, keep talking to him and he will give you a magic tab. Continue down until you get to the save point. Go all the way down and to the left, you'll find a speed tab. Find Masa and Mune's cave and challenge them for the Masamune. Fight only one of them since they are powerless apart. They will combine into Masa&Mune. He can use slash and will attack you. His most lethal attack is tornado, but when he is storing tornado energy give him a shot of Slash, which will neutralize the tornado energy. When you defeat them, you will receive the broken blade of the Masamune. Masa will send you down to the base of the mountain. Go to Tata's house and get the Hero Medal from him. Go to the Cursed Woods and behind the last bush push down to enter Frog's secret home. He'll see the Hero Medal, but not join you. He will move away from the chest. Open it to find the hilt of the Masamune. You'll read Melchoir's name from it. Go visit him to find you need Dreamstone. Go to the end of time and go to Mystic Mountain. 65,000,000 B.C. You'll be attacked by a group of five reptites. They are weak against lightning. After that, seven reptites will attack you, but Ayla will comes to the rescue and kills three of them. You can finish the other four easily. Ayla will ask you to go to her village. Go to Ioka and the chief's hut and enter the party. To get the Dreamstone, you must beat Ayla in a soup guzzling contest. After you win, you'll wake up and you gate key will be missing. Go to Ayla's hut and wake her up. She'll join you. Take Robo along. You'll need his Heal Beam. Get the strongest weapons and armors at the trading shop. If you need more items for trade, fight Nu's at the hunting grounds. Go south into the forest maze. You'll find Kino, who stole the gate key. You must go through the maze and into the reptites' lair, because the reptites' stole the key from Kino. In the Lair, you'll meet Azala and you must fight his champion Nizbel. Nizbel can be hurt after you shock him with lightning. Hit him with your strongest attack. His defense will go back up. Shock him again and attack. Warning: Nizbel will throw lightning back at you. Heal immediately with Robo's Heal Beam. Azala will give you back your Gate Key. Leave and return to Melchoir. 1000 A.D. Melchoir will fix and give you the Masamune. Take it to Frog. 600 A.D. Give the Masamune to Frog and he will join you. Take Frog to Spekkio and learn water magic. Now go to the prehistoric hunting range and fight Nu's until Frog learns Water 2 and you learn Delta Storm triple tech. Now go to the Magic Cave in 600 A.D. and Frog will equip the Masamune and open a secret door. A bat will follow you. Go though the cave and read the soldier's note by looking at him. Exit the cave and enter the forest. You'll enter the Magus' castle. Go though both corridors and get back to the main hall, step on the save point and Ozzie's shadow will appear and taunt you. He will summon two Vamps and four Henchs, so be ready to fight. After that go to the left corridor. This is important. Don't touch any monsters and they wont attack you. At the throne, the people will turn into skeletons and attack. Defeat them to fight Slash, master swordsman. Attack him with X-Strike combos. He should be easy to defeat. But the fight's not over. He'll equip a sword and attack you again. Because, he can use techs like Crono's Slash, Recover with Lucca and keep using X-Strike. If you defeat him, you receive the Slasher Sword and a save point. Go to the right corridor. Talk to the children to fight four Shadows. Fire Whirl will get rid of them. Open the chest and get the treasure. Don't touch and people and go to the throne. Attack Flea ?? with Lucca since it will do MP Buster and drain all the MP of the member that defeats it. The real Flea will then attack. Be careful. She can hit you with Waltz With the Wind which can chaos you. Recover with heal potions and attack with combos like X-Strike and Spire. Defeat Flea for a tab. Go back to Slash's throne and use a shelter to recover lost MP points. Go step on the save point in the main hall and be transported into another part of the fortress. The toughest enemies are the Outlaws and Jugglers. They can use Fire Whirl combo. The Jugglers start with physical defenses up so hit them with magic. If they don't die, they'll shift magic defense on. Then fight them with weapons. When you meet up with Ozzie, don't attack him directly or receive a jolt of Fire 2. Attack the invisible henchmen by moving the target hand. The fourth one you defeat with send Ozzie to the basement and you won't have to fight him for awhile. Use the right save point to recover and use the left one to teleport into Magus' lair. Run down an enter. Lights will appear and you will fight Magus. Attack him with Crono's strongest attack. He'll change magic barriers. If he changes to Fire, he'll shoot Fire 2 at you. If he changes to Lightning, you get shocked by Lightning 2. If he changes. If he changes to ice, he'll crush you with Ice 2. And if he changes to shadow, he'll use Shadow Bomb on who made him change. Attack only with the magic his barrier is or he'll recover HP Attack with Frog first to lower Magus' magic defense and then attack him with whatever magic except when he changes to shadow. Then use Delta Storm on him. Recover when you need to. When he stops changing barriers and casts a spell, hit him with weapons. When you defeat him, you'll be sucked into an enormous Gate. 65,000,000 B.C. You wake up from a dream in Ayla's hut. She'll leave and after the night, Kino comes in and then the North Woods start to burn. Go to the Laruba ruins and Ayla will leave. Get more upgrades for the trading hut. They have new weapons. Go north into the Dactyls' nest and go find Ayla at the peak. She'll join you. Add Robo to your team. You'll need his Heal Beam. Go to Tyrano Lair. Go to the basement and rescue the Laruba villagers and Kino. He'll open up the skull on floor one and you'll be able to go up. You'll meet Nizbel 2. Fight him like you did before. Meet Azala and you'll fight the Black Tyrano. Kill Azala first with Lightning and weapons. He'll use Azala Break, which will cause you to lose hits points every second. Don't attack the Tyrano yet. When he removes defense, attack him with you most powerful attacks, combos and all. But when he reaches one, he'll attack with a fireball attack. Heal with robo, and when he counts down again, attack him. When you defeat him, you'll fly off on dactyls and Lavos will crash into the Tyrano Lair and burrow deep into the ground. A Gate will have formed. Head into it. 12,000 B.C. You be in a cave. The earth is in an ice age. Go east and into the Skyway. You be transported to the magical kingdom of Zeal. In Enhasa, find and open the elemental books in this order: Water, Wind, and Fire. A door will open. Go inside and challenge the Nu. 6 will appear and attack. Don't worry and fight them. They can't kill you. After you beat them, you'll receive two tabs. Go north into the Landway north of Enhasa and enter it. Go west to another Skywalk. You be on the other continent. Go to Kajar and find the elemental books and open them in the same order. Take the Poyozo doll and get the black rock from inside. Go to the caves and go to the Castle. Tell the lady near the spring of recovery and tell her to plant the sapling. Her soul will reincarnate into Fiona's. Scratch the Nu's back. Go to the bedrooms and follow Schala into the middle hall where she'll open a door with her pendant. Go to the left wing and charge up Marle's pendant with the Mammon Machine. Now change your party so you have Lucca, Crono and Robo. Make sure they all have fire protection, like Ruby Vests. Head into the door and you'll fight the Golem. It's first move is Iron ball. Attack with the Fire Sword and heal with Robo. The Golem will counterattack with fire magic now, which will be reduced by the ruby vests. Keep using Fire Sword until you kill him. The queen will capture you and imprison you. Schala will release you but the prophet will catch you. You are sent through the Gate you came from and it will be sealed by Schala. 2300 A.D. Go to the Future and open up the sealed doors in the Bonger Dome, the Trann Dome and the basement of the Arris Dome. Collect the treasures and pick up the tabs from the floor. Now go to the Keeper's Dome through the Sewer Access and open the door there. You find that Belthasar has passed away and has left messages. Go through the door and look at the top of the Wings of Time. Try to leave and Belthasar's robot will come with the seats to it and you'll name it. Don't use the Epoch yet. Leave and pick up the magic tab and then go to the End of Time. Visit all and open all the sealed chest in 1000 A.D. and in 600 A.D. Don't forget the chests in the magic cave and Heckran's Cave. And get the safe helm or the swallow sword from the Blue Pyramid north of Medina. Now go back to 12,000 B.C. 12,000 B.C. Go north until you reach the Terra cave. Buy new equipment but don't sell your Ruby Vests. Go save and go into the beast's nest. Kill them with magic and when you meet the mud imp and his blue and red beasts, attack the blue one first. Kill the beasts then the imp. Go up the chain. Attack the rubble with someone with high strike points, like Ayla to get 1000 exp. points each. This is a great way to build up levels. You'll need high levels. Forty is nice. Have Ayla, Crono, and Robo on your team. Go through the mountains and save at the second save point. You'll fight Giga Gaia after some treasure collecting. It will start with Shadow attack and a fire attack. destroy the left hand and then the right hand. Then go for the head. When the arms are revived, they are at half strength. Destroy then left then right and repeat until Giga Gaia falls back into the Earth. The Guru of Life is Melchoir and you'll return to the Terra cave. Schala will come but will be captured by Dalton. Talk to Melchoir to get the Ruby Knife. Go to the skuyway in the east and go to Kajar and talk to the shopkeeper and say "No" and he'll sell you new stuff. Don't sell your Ruby Vests. Go to the laboratory and scratch the Nu's back for a magic tab. Now go to the Castle and the throne room. Fight Dalton. Be careful, he'll attack you with Iron ball, so be careful and fight. He will flee. Go recover and change your party to Crono, Lucca and Frog or Marle. Go to the Dalton's escape and talk to Mune. Continue in. When fighting scouters, use lightning. On red scouts use fire and on blue scouts use water. Don't attack the scouters with other magic or they'll counterattack. Against the twins, attack Jinn's brother first but dont attack when they're near each other. After Jinn's brother is dead, Jinn's shield will fall so you can kill him. Go to the upper right and upper left rooms and step on the switches. Go down and step on the switch in the south room. Go to the door you couldn't go before and go through to the elevator. After the elevator, go to the right and left rooms and flick the switches. Then step on the middle switch and go in. Equip Ruby Vests and change your party to Crono, Robo and Lucca. You'll fight the Twin Golems. Use Fire 2 to make them counterattack. Heal and use Fire Sword until one dies and then finish of the other Golem. Go to the Mammon Machine and launch the ruby knife at it. The knife will turn into a sword and you'll fight Lavos. Die and the prophet, who is Magus, will challenge but lose. Crono will attack Lavos and will die. Schala will warp you to safety. Lavos will destroy Zeal and wipe out most of the land. You'll end up in the Last village. Put Robo in lead and change to whomever you like. Go to the Commons and be taken by Dalton. You'll end up in a prison cell with no equipment, money of items. Go up the ladder to find your on the Blackbird. You'll find a air duct. Go to the right and up. Look in the grates until you see a knocked out guard with a treasure chest. Open it for Robo's stuff back. Go around and get your items, money, and other people's equipment. Go onto the wing and fight the cannons only if you have Ayla or someone with high strike points. They give out 1500 exp. points each. Have Marle and equip every- one with Ruby Vests. Go to the end and fight the GolemBoss. You don't need to worry. He won't fight back, but he'll run away if you don't beat him. You'll fight Dalton Plus now. Attack him with Ice tackle and he'll attack with fire magic. He will call on GolemBoss but will be sucked into the void. You'll destroy the Blackbird and land. Go to the Commons and talk to everyone. Go to North Cape and examine the sparkling object. Magus will appear and you'll see his past. He is Janus. You now have two choices: 1. Fight him to get the Amulet. 2. Don't fight him to make him join you. I suggest #2. Go to the Epoch and fly. The Black Omen will rise. Crono's Return Go to the End of Time and talk to the old man. He is Gasper and he'll give you the Chrono Trigger. Go to the Keeper's Dome and talk to the robot. Go to Crono's house and get the clone. If you didn't get the clone before, you cannot get Crono back. Take the clone to the robot and he'll activate three robots to help you climb Death's Peak. Turn the robot off and go to Death's Peak and have three physically powerful characters like Robo, Ayla and Frog. Talk to the first robot. It'll turn into a tree. Hide behind the tree to keep from being blown of the mountain. You'll encounter three Lavos Spawns. Attack the heads only or the shell will kill you with needles. The last Spawn, push the shell the under the ladder and climb up. Then get Crono from the summit. The Forest Comes Back to Life The desert in 600 A.D. should have a whirl pool there. If not, go to 12,000 A.D. and tell the lady with the plant to plant it in the Commons. Go down into the maze. Go to the bottom floor. You need Crono, Marle and Ayla. Catch the Retinite and fight it. Use ice on the head and attack it with weapons. Use lightning on the eye the make it recover. When the head dies, cast ice on the body and attack that. Then when the body dies, kill the head. The forest should stop deteriorating. Pick up a power tab near the exit. Go to Fiona and leave Robo. Go to 1000 A.D. and get Robo from the shrine. By the powerful vigil hats for everyone. They will be a reunion and everyone will sleep in the woods. Lucca wakes up and finds a gate. Go into it and you'll be in Lucca's house. Go downstairs. Go into the kitchen and read the note. It says the password is Lucca's mom's name. Go into the main room and you'll see how Lucca's mom lost the ability to walk, but you can keep that from happening. When she gets stuck face the sparkling object. It will say to enter the password. Type in "L","A","R","A" to stop the machine. Go back into the portal and talk to Robo who will give you a green dream. A Stone Shines Go to the future and go into the sun palace. Wear Red Vests, Red Mails or Ruby Armors from the Ioka trader and get the silver rock from the Nu in the Laruba ruins. Fight the Son of Sun in 2300 AD. Attack the fireballs. When you hit the right fire, it'll damage the eye. Continue doing this. But be careful since it spins the balls. When you defeat him, you'll get the moon stone. Take the moon stone to prehistoric time and leave it at Sun Keep. Go to the future and find the stone missing. Go to 1000 A.D. and go to the Snail shop in Porre. Buy the Jerky and go to 600 A.D. and give the woman the jerky. Go to 1000 A.D. and get the moon stone from the mayor. Take it to the Sun Keep and leave it there. Go to the future and have Lucca look at the sun stone. She'll make a gun for herself and Taban will give you Sun Shades. A Rainbow Shell Go to 600 A.D. and talk to Toma in the Choras cafe. You'll get Toma's Pop. Go to 1000 A.D. and his grave. He'll tell you where the Rainbow Shell is located. Go behind his grave for a speed tab. Go to the Giant's Claw. Go get the blue rock inside and fight the Rust Tyrano. Attack like you did the Black Tyrano from 65,000,000 B.C. Get the Rainbow shell. Go to Guardia castle and ask the King to keep it for 400 years. Go to the future. Have Marle in your party. You'll find the king on trial. Go to him. He'll explain he's being framed. Go to the new wing in the east part of the castle. Learn of the chancellor's plans. Go forward and fight. You get a piece of the shell. Take it to the court room. Marle will burst through the stained glass window and prove her father is innocent. The chancellor will change into Yakra the 13 and attack you. Have vigil hats because he can chaos you. Defeat him and Marle will apologize to her father. Go to the courtroom again and get the key from the floor. Open the locked chest to find the real chancellor. Go to the basement and Melchoir will make you new weapons and armors. You can get a Rainbow Sword, Prismspecs and you have a choice between a Prism Dress or three Prism Helms. The Prism Dress reduces magic damage by 1/3. The Prism Helms lock your status. Go to the blue pyramid north of Medina. You can get a swallow sword or a safe helm. The swallow sword increases your speed while the safe helm reduces physical damage by 1/3. A Knight Slain by Magus Go to the middle ages and talk to the patrons at the cafe. Return to the present and talk to the patrons at the cafe. One man will offer you tools. Go to is house which is southwest of the cafe and get the tools from his wife. Go to the middle ages and give the tools to the man in the cafe. Go to the Northern Ruins and defeat all the monsters in the basement. Go to the carpenter's house and have him fix the northern ruins. Take Frog to the basement and have him put Cyrus' soul to peace and the Masamune will become stronger. Clear the upstairs of monsters and pay the carpenter 2000 G to have him go there again. Go to the sealed chest and look at them, but don't open them. Then go to 1000 A.D. and collect the treasure in the ruins and find the treasures in the sealed chests improved. Now go back to 600 A.D. and collect the treasure again. Go to the Denadoro Mountains and have Frog lead your party. Where the Free Lancer throws rocks at you go right next to the treasure chest. Frog will catch a rock and it will turn into the gold rock. Ozzie's Hideout Have shadow protection and head in. Fight Flea, then Slash. Don't go for the treasure in the guillotine room yet. Walk toward the staircase and an Imp will take out the trap. Take the treasure now. Then from the stairs that lead up, go down and push on the wall south of the stairs. It will open up. You'll find a magic tab and Magus' strongest gear. You must now fight Super Slash, Flea Plus and the Great Ozzie. Take out Slash or Flea first. They'll attack with Delta Force, Fire Sword and Bad Impulse. Kill Slash and Flea runs away and vice versa. Defeat Ozzie and he'll go upstairs. Follow him and attack his invisible Hench to the left. You'll fall through. Climb upstairs. A cat will press the right switch and Ozzie will be defeated. If you go to the Medina, the Imps run the town and they are friendly. Where Machines Originated Have Robo lead your team. Fight the robots on the conveyor belt and enter. This is a great place to build experience. Go to the right through the dust chute. You can leave or fight the robots again. You get around 8,000 exp. every time around. Collect the dolls and go upstairs. Robo will meet his old girlfriend. Robo must fight her alone. Defeat her so she remembers and she will give Robo a ribbon that gives him 3+ speed, 10+ magic defense and then she dies. Go fight Mother Brain. Knock out two displays and attack the Mother Brain. Then knock out the last display. The factory will close down permanently. Someone Close Needs Help The person is Queen Zeal. You must fight through the Black Omen and three giant mutants. To fight the Mutants, just kill the heads. You must fight Zeal. Attack her and use megaelixirs when she drops your HP to one. You'll now fight the Mammon Machine. Attack it like you did with the rust and black tyrano. Then you might fight Zeal again. Attack her head only. When she loses, Lavos will attack. How to Defeat Lavos He will take forms of the Dragon Tank, Guardian, Heckran, Zombor, Masa&Mune, Nizbel, Magus, Black Tyrano and Giga Gaia. Defeat them like you did before. Attack Lavos repeatedly and heal up and his head will fall. But you are not done yet. You must fight his core. Make a party that utilizes attack and healing magic. Try Robo, Marle, and Crono. Use Shock and Illuminaire until the robot-like Lavos Core dies. Make sure to heal with heal beam. Caste Haste on everyone with Marle. Remember: You need everyone to have ** magic defense. Now you'll attack the Lavos Core. Use Uzzi Punch and confuse on the left bit to kill it. Now use Shock and Illuminaire until the middle bit dies. Caste Haste on everyone and use heal beam. The right bit will eventually revive the other bits. just repeat the process until the right bit dies. If the right bit dies, the rest of them die. CONGRATS! You've completed Chrono Trigger! :) Look in Part 3 for a complete list of known endings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2 - Monster List & Boss Strategies ----------------------------------------------------------------------- By The Mynock & Seigfrid Edited by GWS Wizard MONSTER LIST Following is a list of the monsters in Chrono Trigger, along with the amount of experience (EXP), tech. points (TP), and gold (G) you get when you beat them. Included is the HP of the monsters. After a certain point in the game I no longer got Tech Points (because I had all the techniques already), so there are spots where they are missing. Bosses are marked with a * after their name. Approximations of some enemies' HPs are in parentheses. Giga Gaia killed you one too many times? Then this is for you. This section gives helpful strategies against all of the bosses in Chrono Trigger. E-Mail comments and suggestions (no flames please) to SeigfriedH@aol.com. --SeigfriedH The entry form is like this: Name: (enemy's name) Preferred Characters: (original names are used -- If this doesn't appear, you have no choice who to fight the boss with) Weakneses: (If the boss is weak against anything, it appears here -- Also shows strengths against an element) Strategy: (How to kill the boss) BOSSES Name: Yakara Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono and Frog use X-Strike while Lucca uses Flame Toss. If one of your characters is low on HP, have Lucca use Tonics on him or her, then resume wioth Flame Toss. Yakara has about 1000 HP. Name: Dragon Tank Weaknesses: Head is sheilded from Fire and Water attacks. Strategy: First, have Crono kill the head with normal attacks. Lucca can shoot it or heal Crono with Tonics. After the head dies, have Crono hit the wheel and body with his Slash attack while Lucca shoots the Wheel or uses Flame Toss and keeps the partyÕs HP up. Name: Guardian Bit Weaknesses: None, strong against Fire. Strategy: First, kill the small Bits on the sides. If you attack the main enemy while these are alive, it will counter-attack with either Delta Attack, which does about 50 points of damage to everyone in your party, or AmpliFire, which does about 80 points to one person. After the bits are dead, the Guardian will count down from five before reviving them. Attack it with your weapons. When the bits come back, repeat the process. Name: Krawlie Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use your most powerful techs on Krawlie. I cannot give you specifics, because there are many different times at which you can fight him. He doesn't have much HP, though, so keep up the pressure and he shouldn't live long. Name: R Series Preferred Characters: Lucca and Crono Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Lucca and Crono use their Fire Whirl combo on the center robot of the first line twice. Two whirls kill the line (Since Fire Whirl kills surrounding enemies). After the first line dies, recover your characters completely and repeat the process on the second line. Name: Heckran Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, and Marle Weaknesses: Magic. Strong against all forms of physical attack. Strategy: Have Lucca and Marle use their Antipode combo on Heckran while Crono uses Lightning. When he says "Go ahead! Try and attack!", DON'T attack. Use Crono's and Marle's Aura Whirl combo to recover the party's HP while Lucca uses Ethers to recover the party's MP.When you get a "Breif Counterattack break", continue using Antipode and Lightning. It shouldn't take long to dispose of Heckran. Name: Zombor Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, and Marle Weaknesses: Bottom Half - fire; Top Half - ice. Strategy: Dispose of the bottom quickly with Lucca's Fire spell or (If you have it) Lucca and Crono's Fire Sword dual tech. When Zombor uses his "Doom Doom Doom Doom" attack, recover as quickly as possible with Aura Whirl. After the bottom dies, use Ice on the top half until it dies too. Name: Masa and Mune Preferred Characters: Crono, Marle, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Concentrate your attacks on Masa, the one on the right. Have Marle and Robo use their Ice Tackle dual tech while Crono uses Spincut or keeps the party's healh up. He shouldn't tak too long. Name: Masa&Mune Preferred Characters: Crono, Marle, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Robo and Marle use Ice Tackle. Crono should use Spincut or recover the party with Mid Tonics. If you get the message "Storing Tornado Energy", have Crono use his Slash attack to negate it. Repeat this process until Masa&Mune dies. Name: Nizbel Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Robo Weaknesses: Thunder Strategy: Have Crono use Lightning to drop Nizbel's defense, then have Robo and Alya do strong Dual Techs. Have Crono use Spincut. Keep attacking until Nizbel discharges the energy. Then, have Robo and Alya heal the party with Cure Beam and Kiss. When the party is competely recovered, repeat the process. Name: Slash Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Marle cast Haste on everyone while Crono and Frog use X-Strike. This strategy works both times you fight him. Name: Flea Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use a Barrier on Marle. Have Crono and Frog use X-Strike while Marle uses Ice. Carry a lot of Heals in case Flea uses his/her Waltz of the Wind. Ignore poison attacks and concentrate on keeping all your characters controllable. Name: Ozzie Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: DON'T hit Ozzie himself. Move the cursor and attack the handles. When you hit the fourth, a hole will appear under Ozzie. Name: Magus Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Robo Weaknesses: Varies Strategy: This is not an easy battle. Magus' weaknesses will change constantly. Watch what he is weak against. If he is weak against Water, use Frog and Crono's SwordSteam combo. If he is weak against Shadow, use Crono and Robo's Rocket Roll Combo. Otherwise, keep your HP up and have Frog attack with the Masamune. When you get the message "Magus risks casting a spell," raise your HP to max and start using Crono, Frog, and Robo's Triple Raid Delta attack. This should be able to inflict heavy damage on him. Do that until he uses DarkMatter, his strongest attack. After that, heal and repeat the process. For the record, he has between 6,500 and 6,750 HP. Name: Nizbel II Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, and Lucca Weakness: Thunder Strategy: First, have Crono use Lightning on Nizbel. Then, have Alya use her most powerful tech and Lucca throw Napalm at Nizbel. When Crono recovers, have him and Alya use their Falcon Cut combo, and Lucca throw more Napalm. Repeat this process until Nizbel II discharges his stored energy. After that, Recover your HP and repeat the process. Name: Azala and Black Tyrano Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Lucca Weaknesses: Azala - Thunder, Black Tyrano - None Strategy: You should have all three characters equipped with Ruby Vests for this battle. First, go after Azala. Use Crono's Lightning while Alya and Lucca use their Flame Kick combo. Keep your HP and MP high with Mid Ethers and Full Tonics. After Azala buys the farm, Wait until you see the message "Removes Def., Is storing power". Then a countdown from five will start. Use Crono and Alya's Falcon Hit on the Tyrano while Lucca uses Mid and Full Tonics to max out your party's HP. If you manage to get your party's HP to max before the Tyrano has counted down, have Lucca throw Napalm. When the Tyrano reaches zero, he uses a powerful fire attack on your whole group (That is why you should have Ruby Vests equipped). Recover your HP quickly, because the Tyrano wil grab a character with it's tounge and chomp him or her to regain some of it's HP. Then it will start counting down again. Repeat the process until the Tyrano dies. It will take quite a bit, because the Tyrano and Azala have over 10,000 HP together. Name: Golem Preferred Characters: Crono, Robo, Lucca Weaknesses: None Strategy: Lucca and Robo should use their Fire Tackle dual tech while Crono uses Full Tonics on whomever the Golem uses Iorn Orb on. This is important, because it will use a Iorn Orb/Energy Blast combo that is almost always sucessful at killing your characters. Everyone should still have their Ruby Vests because the golem will counterattack with a weak version of Fire 2 (It copies whatever you use against it). Name: Mud Imp and it's beasts Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Marle Weaknesses: Mud Imp: none Blue Beast: Fire Red Beast: Ice Strategy: First, use your Fire Sword or Fire Sword 2 combos to kill the Blue Beast. Then move to the Red Beast with Ice Sword or Ice Sword 2. When both are dead, use fire and ice attacks on the Mud Imp until it dies or runs. Name: Giga Gaia Preferred Characters: Crono, Marle, Alya Weaknesses: None Strategy: First, give Marle Red Mail. Have Crono and Alya constantly use Falcon Hit on the hands until they die. If the hands use their Pair Blaster or Dark Plasma attacks, have Marle use a Lapis. After you hit the hands twice with Falcon Hit, they will die. Attack the head constantly until it too dies. If the hands come back, use Falcon Hit to kill them again. Name: Dalton Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, and Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono and Alya constanly use their Falcon Cut combo while Marle keeps everyone's HP up. He acts tough, but he's really a marshmallow, and won't take that kind of punishment for long. Name: GolemTwins Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Give Lucca a Speed-enhancing accessory before the battle. It is absolutley critical she goes first. When she goes, have her cast HypnoWave. If one of the golems falls asleep, good. If they both fall asleep, excellent. If neither Golem falls asleep, press reset because they will wipe out the party in a matter of seconds. Concentrate on the Golem that didn't fall asleep with Lucca and Robo's Fire Tackle and Crono's Confuse. Lucca should cast HypnoWave every so-often to make sure the other Golem doesn't wake up. When the first Golem dies, concentrate your attacks on the second one until it, too, dies. Name: GolemBoss Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: Pound this boss with normal attacks. It won't attack because it's afraid of heights. Eventually, if you don't kill it, it will fall off and die, but you won't get any EXP. So try and kill it. Name: Dalton Plus Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use your most powerful Dual Techs on Dalton. After you have inflicted around 4000 points of damage, he will call for GolemBoss, who is already dead, and get sucked into the void. Name: Magus Preferred Characters: Alya, Lucca, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: This time, Magus is nowhere near as powerful as last time because his powers have been drained. He is still quite formidable, however. Lucca should use Flare while Alya and Robo use Beast Toss. Keep with this even if some of your characters die because he only has about 5000 HP. Name: Lavos Spawn Preferred Characters: Frog, Alya, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use Alya's Cat Attack and Frog's Leap Slash on the Spawn's mouth. If you have more powerful techs, use them. Have Marle Cure your party when they get injured. The most important thing to remember is not to harm the shell, because it will counterattack with Lavos Spawn Needle, which is quite powerful. Name: Retinite Preferred Characters: Alya, Robo, Marle Weaknesses: Body and legs - none; Core - absorbs energy from Lightning, Fire, and Shadow. Strategy: Have Marle cast Ice2 constantly to keep the Retinite's defense down while Alya and Robo attack with their most powerful single Techs (I reccomend Uzzi Punch and Cat Attack or Triple Kick if you have it). Marle should cast Cure on people with low HP. Every once and a while, have Robo use Shock to keep the Core's HP high. While it may be your first instinct to kill the core immediatley, the Retinite uses much stronger attacks after it dies. After the top is dead, kill the legs too. When the legs die, kill the core with normal attacks. It's is a tough battle, but not impossible. Name: Flea Plus Preferred Characters: Alya, Frog, Crono Weaknesses: Just about everything Strategy: Use weaker techs (Like X-Strike, for example) because Flea Plus is practically the same as the first Flea in Magus' castle. Name: Super Slash Preferred Characters: Alya, Crono, Frog Weaknesses: Same as Flea Plus Strategy: Use the same tachs you did against Flea Plus. Name: Great Ozzie and Friends Preferred Characters: Alya, Crono, Frog Weaknesses: None in particular Strategy: First, Alya can charm the Flea Vest, OzziePants, and Slasher 2 away from their owners. The OzziePants are the best helmet, but you have the Chaos condition at the beginning of battles. Slasher 2 is a 155 attack power sword for Crono. Flea Vest is an accessory which increases your Magic Defense by Twelve. After you have these items, use Falcon Hit on Slash and Flea until they buy the farm. They usually counterattack with their Bad Impulse triple tech, so have Frog use Heal on all your characters after you connect with Falcon Hit. After Flea and Slash bite the dust, Great Ozzie runs. Name: Great Ozzie by himself Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: I don't suggest attacking... Strategy: Hit the switch behind him, opening a pit below you. After you fall, return to Ozzie and a cat will walk in and press a switch that opens a hole beneath Ozzie. Without his Ice Barrier, Ozzie falls to his doom. Name: Son of Sun Preferred Characters: Your two fastest and Lucca Weaknesses: Unpredictably, Son of Sun is strong against all attacks, including Ice. Strategy: Before the battle, give one of your characters a Red Vest, one Red Armor, and Lucca the Taban Helm, Ruby Armor, and Flea Vest. Use a multi-attack that doesn't require many MP and hits all the flames surrounding Son of Sun (Like Cyclone or Napalm). Attack the one that doesn't counterattack with normal weapons. Damage to it should do around 200 to Son of Sun. When Son of Sun uses Roulette Shuffle, repeat the process. When he loses his flame, he will retreat. Name: Rust Tyrano Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Frog Weaknesses: Lightning Strategy: Give everyone Ruby Armor, Red Vests, or Red Armor. When Rust Tyrano counts down, have Crono and Frog use their Spire combo while Alya uses Triple Kick. When he uses his fire attack, have Frog use Heal and keep attacking. He has a lot of HP but shouldn't be all that hard. Name: Yakara XIII Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono use Confuse while Marle and Frog use their Glaicer attack. When Yakara XIII uses his NeedleSpin 13 attack, Have Crono and Marle use their Aura Whirl combo or have Frog and Marle use their Double Cure combo. Keep attacking with your most powerful attacks. After Yakara XIII bites the bust, you will go into a short demo scene. After the Demo, return to where you defeated Yakara and get the Yakara Key and find the treasure chest close by. Name: Mega Mutant Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Everyone should have some kind of status-protecting equipment, like the Vigil Hat, Nova Armor, or Amulet. Giga Mutant has lots of status-changing attacks. Have Crono use Luminare while Magus uses Dark Mist or Dark Matter if he has it. Marle can attack with Ice 2 or Cure whoever gets hurt. Name: Giga Mutant Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Basically the same as the Mega Mutant, but Giga Mutant has more HP. Also, it should be noted that the bottom half of the mutant is virtually immune to physical attacks. Name: TerraMutant - Do we see a pattern emerging here? :) Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Like Giga Mutant, but now the top is immune to physical attacks too and it has a nasty habit of counterattacking with LifeShaver if hit. Defeat it with the same strategy you used on Mega and Giga. Don't worry, this is the last one. Name: Lavos Spawn Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Alya Weaknesses: Shell - Strong against everything. Mouth - None Strategy: To answer your unasked question - Yes, you have defeated these guys before, but this is the hardest one. Have Crono use Confuse on the mouth while Frog and Alya use Drop Kick on the mouth. Like the others, this one counterattacks with Lavos Spawn Needle if you hit the shell. Use Slurp Kiss to keep yourself healthy and keep attacking. You should be able to triumphantly trounce this thug without much difficulty. Name: Zeal Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Alya Weaknesses: None Strategy: You will need a lot of Megaelixirs for the series of battles that quickly ensues after this. Get them by having Alya Charm the Ruminator enemies in the Black Omen. To defeat Zeal, wait until she uses her Halliation attack. This is your cue to have Frog use Frog Squash and Alya use Dino Tail. After you use these two attacks (Which should take away several thousand points of damage each since the less HP the character using them has, the more powerful they are), have Crono revive the party with a Megalixir. Use Confuse, Leap Slash, and Triple Kick until Zeal uses Halliation again and repeat the process. She shouldn't take too long. Name: Mammon Machine Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, and Alya Weaknesses: None Strategy: The Mammon Machine uses any atttacks used against it to it's advantage. Magic raises it's Attack Power and normal attack raise it's defense. Therefore, use Magic dual techs, like Spire, Bubble Hit, or Volt Bite. Keep attacking. If the Machine does lots of damage to one person, use Frog's Cure 2 to recover their health. Heeep attacking until you wreck the Machine. Name: Zeal Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, and Alya Weaknesses: Hands - Strong against everything, Head - none Strategy: This time, Zeal appears as a head and two hands. DO NOT ATTACK THE HANDS! They will counterattak with some really nasty attacks like Flare, MP Buster, Lifeshaver, Ice 2, and even Luminare! Use Frog and Crono's Spire combo while Alya uses Triple Kick. If you are in danger, use Frog and Alya's Slurp Kiss. Also, if you charm the hands, you can obtain a PrisimDress and a Prisim Helm, but risk a counterattack. If you are using characters other than those I suggest, you will find that Lucca's MegaBomb and Magus' Dark Bomb are quite effective. Name: Lavos (Shell) Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Ayla Weaknesses: See below Strategy: Depending on how you got here, you may or may not fight this part. Also, if you arrived from certain places in the game, Lavos skips his first method of attack. Lavos' first tactic is to imitate the attacks of bosses long dead. He uses the powers of the Dragon Tank, Guardian Bit, MasaMune, Giga Gaia, Zombor, and Nizbel, just to name a few. Most of them can be easily defeated, however, since they have the EXACT same statistics, including Defense and HP, of their earlier incarnations. Refer back in this guide if you're having trouble. When he attacks as himself, he is not very powerful either. His "Destruction Rain" can be painful, but heal yourself and keep hitting the mouth. When the mouth dies, you enter the shell. Name: Lavos (Robot) Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Alya Weaknesses: Body is immune to most attacks until arms are dead. Strategy: This is where levels count. Be around 55 with the best Mag. Defense possible. Lavos' first attack is to open the "Doors of Doom" and buffet you with high-powered laser beams. Have whoever is ready use a Megaelixir. Throughout the battle, have Crono use Luminare and Magus use Dark Matter. It is imperative that you kill at least one of Lavos' arms so he cannot use his Laser attack. Have Alya use Triple Kick on the Left arm until it dies while Crono and Magus use their spells. When the Left arm dies, attack the right one until it, too, dies. Use Megalixirs if your MP gets low (I told you you'd need lots). When both arms are dead, attack the body. Some of it's status-changing attacks work even with change-proof armor. Use a Heal on anyone who changes status. When it dies, it will change to it's final form. Name: Lavos Core (Also known as Lavos Bit) Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Alya Weaknesses: Left - Strong against all magic. Center - none. Right - immune to everything when it is "Defended." Strategy: First, have Alya destroy the left part with a Triple Kick. If the left comes back later, have her kill it again. After that is dead, have Magus use Dark Matter while Crono uses Confuse and Alya uses Triple Kick on the Right part. Do not specifically attack the creature in the middle. If you are wounded by the Creatuure's Dreamless, Power Stone, or Evil Star attacks, use a Megalixir FAST (it tends to follow up with Crying Heavans or it's normal attack). Keep pounding on the right. It has over 25,000 HP, so expect a long battle. When it dies, you see an ending to the game, depending on how you got to it and what you have done in the game. (Hint - Get the best ending by beating him after going into the right portal of Lucca's Telepod in the millenial fair!) Name: Spekkio (Kilwala) Peferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Marle Weaknesses: Magic (Non-magical attacks have no effect on Spekkio) Strategy: In his first form, Spekkio is a wuss. Just use your newly-learned magic skills. If someone loses a large amount of HP, use a Mid Tonic on them. It will be easiest to defeat Spekkio if all your characters have at least 200 HP. He has about 900 HP. Name: Spekkio (Goblin) Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Frog Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Spekkio uses the same attacks he used last time, but they are generally more powerful now. Have Crono and Lucca use their Fire Sword combo while Frog uses Heal or Mid Tonics to keep everyone's HP high. Name: Spekkio (Omnicrone) Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Frog Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Now, Spekkio uses whole-party attacks. Have Frog constantly use Heal while Crono and Lucca use their Fire Sword or Fire Sword 2 attack (if you have it). Name: Spekkio (MasaMune) Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Marle Weaknesss: Magic Strategy: Have Crono use Luminare, Lucca use Flare, and Marle keep your HP high with her Cure 2 spell or the Lapis item. If Spekkio uses the insta-death attack, have Marle use Life 2 on them. Name: Spekkio (Nu) Preferred Characters: Crono, Magus, Frog Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: This is the hardest enemy in the game. Spekkio now uses attacks like Flare, Luminare, and Halliation. Have Frog constantly Heal the party while Crono and Magus use Luminare and DarkMatter. It may take several tries to defeat Spekkio in this form. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 3 - Miscellaneous Information ----------------------------------------------------------------------- By FFfanNo1 and AL987654 Edited by GWS Wizard * The Gold Rock allows triple tech Grand Dream which gets stronger the lower your HP becomes. * Ayla receives the Iron Fist at level 72. It randomly causes chaos. * Defeat the Sidekicks in the Black Omen for mass tech points. * To get New Game +, you must finish the game finishing all the quests and destroy the Black Omen. * At level 97, Ayla receives the Bronze Fist. When you hit critical with this powerful weapon, it does 9999 HP damage. * When everyone in your parties are at level 90 or above, Spekkio will go into Nu form. He is tough. Make sure you have ** magic defense and White Vests or Mails because he can use Illuminaire. He will also use Dark Matter, Flare and Queen Zeal's magic (HP down to one). If you beat him, you get 10 of each tab and 10 megaelixirs. * Use Ayla's Charm in when fighting Nizbel in the Reptite Lair or fight in the Giant's Claw. Try to steal from Nizbel. If you get a Third Eye, reset and try again. If you get nothing, just use charm again. Some- times, you steal an item called the "WolfLobe Sword." The Ls in "Wolflobe" are written in a different type of lettering, like script writing. When you win the battle, it does not appear in your inventory though. If you happen to win the Sword in Giant's Claw, you will get XXX gold, XXX exp, and X tech points. It is not known what this means as of yet. +================+ | Technique List | +================+ Single Techs Crono - Cyclone - Crono spins with his sword, damaging all enemies in the area. Monster/Treasure Chart ---------------------- \-------------------------------------------------------------------------/ | New in this version of Chrono Trigger Monster Treasure Chart | /-------------------------------------------------------------------------\ This version of Chrono Trigger Monster Treasure Chart contains... 1. The "Chrono Trigger Item Chart" includes info on items in the Japanese version and how to get them in the US version. 2. An updated "Chrono Trigger Treasure Hunting Frequently Asked Questions" section. There are some new frequently asked questions added in this section. \-------------------------------------------------------------------------/ | Chrono Trigger Monster Treasure Chart v3.1 | /-------------------------------------------------------------------------\ FINALLY, I've COMPLETELY filled in all the info that I know in this version of Chrono Trigger Monster Treasure Chart! Now, only the info in the chart with question marks are those monsters that you can't steal from because Ayla did not join your group yet or that the monster used the "Lock All" attack which disables you from using Techs and Items (well, there are more reasons than that). To the people who are new to the Monster Treasure Chart series, this chart tells you what you get from the monsters you are fighting with by stealing using Ayla's "Charm" Single Tech, Ayla's and Marle's "Twin Charm" Dual Tech, and what you may win after the battle. Some monster may have secret items that are not listed in the instruction booklet that you can get by stealing! I've also added a location of the monster in this chart in this new version. One more thing, if you steal all the items from a monster, you may not receive anything from that monster after the battle. \-------------------------------------------------------------------------/ | Monster Name | Location | Steal | Won | |-------------------|------------|-------------------------|------------| | (Crane) | Magus'Lair | ?????????? The new frequently asked questions and the questions that are in the last version are also still here... Q: Where is the MirageHand? A: The MirageHand is located at Denadoro Mts. When you enter Denadoro Mts, go north but do not climb the rope ladder. Right of the ladder, there is another way at the north that leads to another area. In this next area, look left and you should see a treasure almost hidden by the leaves. You will find the MirageHand in the treasure. Q: Where's the Fleaver? A: The Fleaver has the same attack power and speed as the Slasher (see instruction booklet). So, I believe that the Fleaver is actually known as the Slasher. Q: There is a weapon listed in the Item Chart called the Demon Hit? Where is it located or is it just a mistake? A: It's no mistake, the Demon Hit is located in the Ocean Palace. When you enter the Ocean Palace, go into the next room below and you'll be in an area where there's six doorways. Take the bottom left doorway. In that room, go pass the doorway at the south but don't cross the lava to where those Red Scouts and Blue Scouts are. Instead, go left to the narrow strip of floor between the doorway and the lava. Keep going until there's no way you can go any further. Push the wall until you find a hidden passage. You should see a room with a treasure, inside the treasure contains the Demon Hit. This weapon is great inside the Ocean Palace because there's a bunch of magic users there. Q: Where's the Gloom Cape, Gloom Helm and the DoomSickle for Magus? A: The Gloom Cape, Gloom Helm and the DoomSickle are located in Ozzie's Fort. In the room with a trap and a treasure that Ozzie wants you to get, walk south from the stairs that leads to the next floor. You will find a hidden room where those items are and a Magic Tab. Q: I heard that you can upgrade some items, but how do you upgrade them and which items can be upgraded? A: There are some items you can upgrade...They are the Black, Blue, Red, White Vests, Nova Armor, Kali Blade, and Siren. To upgrade them, go to the year 600 AD and press the A button on the sealed chests containing those objects. When it prompts you to remove the object from the chest, select "No". Then go to 1000 AD and open the same sealed chests. The item inside will level up. The Black, Blue, Red, White Vests will turn into the Black, Blue, Red, White Mail. The Nova Armor will turn into Moon Armor. The Kali Blade will turn into the Shiva Edge, and the Siren will turn into the Valkerye. After that, you can go back to 600 AD and pick up the original items too! Q: Where are all five rocks located? A: There are five rocks that allows you to use Triple Techs with certain characters. The Black Rock is located in the hidden room in Kajar. To find the hidden room, open the books in these order: Water, Lightning, and Fire. You'll find a hidden entrance by the bookshelf. Inside the room is a Poyozo Doll and the Black Rock is inside it. The Blue Rock is located inside the Giant's Claw cave. The Gold Rock is located in Denadoro Mts. Once you get the true identity of the Masamune, go to the place where the Free Lancer throws rocks at you. Have Frog lead the party and have the Free Lancer throw it at him. Frog will catch it and it will turn into the Gold Rock. The SilverRock is located in the Laruba Ruins. The Nu who changes your lead character's name will give it to you. Finally, the White Rock is located inside the Black Omen. It is in the same room where the TerraMutant is located. Q: What does the GreenDream Accessory do? A: The GreenDream is an accessory given by Robo after saving the forest and going back to Lara's (Lucca's Mom) accident. The GreenDream revives the equipper once when he or she is defeated. This accessory is like the Triple Tech "Lifeline" except that "Lifeline" affects all the characters. If you have Final Fantasy III(tm), the GreenDream accessory is similar to the spell "Life3". Q: Where is the Moon Stone? How do you change it into a Sun Stone? A: The Moon Stone is located in the Sun Palace at 2300 AD. Beat the Son of Sun to get it. You must hit the right fire to damage the center and the fire will rotate once in a while. After you get the Moon Stone, go to 65,000,000 BC and put it in the Sun Keep. Then go to 1000 AD and you will find tthe Moon Stone missing. Then go to the Mayor's Manor in Porre. Ask the mayor about the Moon Stone, if he doesn't give it to you, you must change history by buying Jerky in the Snail Shop nearby and travel back to 600 AD. GIVE the Jerky to the lady in the Elder's House and travel back to 1000 AD. The mayor will give you thee Moon Stone. Put the Moon Stone back in the Sun Keep and the Moon Stone will change into a Sun Stone in 2300 AD. Lucca will use the Sun Stone to create a weapon for herself and Taban will make a Sun Shade with it. Q: How do you get the Rainbow Sword? A: First you'll have to get the Rainbow Shell and prove the King of Guardia innocent in a trial. After that, Find Melchior in the basement of Guardia Castle and he'll make the PrismDress or the Prism Helm. You must have the Sun Stone with you if you want him to make the Rainbow Sword and the PrismSpecs. Q: Where's the best place to increase your levels near the end of the game? A: A great place to increase your levels near the end of the game is Geno Dome. Taking a couple of rides on the conveyor belt can increase your levels quickly (8000+ experience points for the 3 characters fighting the monsters on the conveyor belt and 6000+ experience points for those who are not in the action). you should put the Skill/Item position in the Configuration Sub Screen so you can select the attacks that will quickly eliminate the enemies and just hold the A button for the upcoming battles. After the ride's over, go into the dust chute and then take another ride on the conveyor belt again. I would choose techs that dispatches the enemy quickly so it takes less time to increase your levels and also a few Gold Studs will help a lot. Q: Where's the WolfLobe Sword? What does it do? A: One weird thing that some Chrono Trigger fans and I found was the WolfLobe Sword "glitch". The WolfLobe Sword can be found by stealing from monsters or won from them. However, this glitch happens rarely and even if it says "Got 1x WolfLobe Sword" (Some letters might be messed up), the item will not show up in the inventory. From what I've heard, the WolfLobe Sword is a weapon in the Japanese version which was thought to be taken out in the US version, but it was not taken out completely. Q: Where are those new items listed in the Item Chart? A: Those new items listed in the chart with the double stars are in the Japanese version only, but you can also get them by using Game Genie. These four codes below will start Crono on the weapon, armor, helmet and accessory slot: ??D4-745D Start with an item in Crono's Weapon slot. ??D4-7FED Start with an item in Crono's Helmet slot. ??D4-747D Start with an item in Crono's Armor slot. ??D4-748D Start with an item in Crono's Accessory slot. Replace ?? with codes below: 44 - PicoNagnum (Lucca's Weapon) 4B - Graedus (Lucca's Weapon) 86 - Relic (Accessory) 8B - SeraphSong (Accessory) You must either start a new game or new game + in order for these codes to work. There are more codes that will allow you to start the game with any item in the game, but it is not included in here because of the limited space. If you got any questions on where a item is located or anything to do with treasure hunting, E-mail me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 4 - Game Genie Codes ----------------------------------------------------------------------- By the Gamewiz GG Code Creator's Club Part A Credits Part B GG Codes Part C CT Version Part D CT GG Programming Hints ------------------- | PART A : CREDITS | ------------------- I would like to thank all the members of our club: 72737.3624@compuserve.com, SAMARUI, Pheonix573, SirGarland, BConn70856, ChronoT500, Mathius X, LuKaS X, Rhyder X, Oshkalabah, Great Wyrm, GWS Codes, Lrd Magus, BadHelix, ChronoT500, Blink AoA, AeroStar13, Whrek, Loma 349, Computails, Pyrofreek, ShadyNinja, LordRokol Special Thanks to: Dr Gamewiz I would like to thank him for giving us a Folder to work on and the support we need to keep this club going. Created by: LordRokol 9DAB-7765 "INFINITE M.P. LUCCA" Notes: For some reason this code does not work for some CT's out there. Sorry!!!! 3BC4-7765 "FLEEING ENEMIES" This will make most moving monsters in battle try to run away from you in battle!!! This will not work on stationary monsters and Bosses!!! Somemonster will start to fight you if you attack while they are trying to run away.... Some monsters will glitch the game. Like; Winged Apes!!! (Damn Monkeys!!!) Notes: This is not a perfect code. But, it sure can help you. DCF3-7765 "DISSAPPEAR!!!" You and your enemies just dissappear in battle?!?!?!?!? The battle continues but you just can't see yourself and the enemy.... 568F-7765 "WEIRD ITEMS" It's hard to explain, but if you go into battle and try to use a Tech. against the monsters a message will appear saying.... "You have obtained (either) x1 "Lightning" or "Rovoke" Then, all the monsters instantly get destroyed (can freeze game, rarely) and you are stuck in eternal battle...You can "run away". If you are in a place where you can't, you'll just have to reset the game. Notes: I believe this is a good start for an "item" code.... After careful experimenting, I have concluded that you are actually getting Tech's... "rovoke" = "Provoke" B323-7765 "INVINCIBILITY" This will make you and the enemies INVINCIBLE in battles! See, if you can alter it so it will make only you invincible. This works on spells also... B623-7765 "9999 DAMAGE" Anything that hits will do 9999 Damage, whether it is an "attack" or "tech". Notes: This is very helpful when you have the 'Haste Cap' on. Crono attacks with "Confuse" = 4x9999 of damage!!! This works for both you and the monsters!!!! Beware.... B625-7765 "EVADE INCREASES" This code makes it really hard to "attack" monsters and vice-versa. The chances are 1 to 10 of getting hit!! This does not work on "techs" though. 812C-7765 "INSTANT VICTORY" The moment you try to do anything in battle, you start doing your victory dance.... However, doing this will result in a "BLACK OUT"!!!! CD3B-7765 "DEATH!!!!" This is the coolest code that needs work so far.... It instantly desrtroys all enemies (even some bosses!!!) when you try to do anything... "tech" and "attack".... Problem is it always glitches..... Glitch: You are stuck in "eternal battle"!!! EEDF-7767 "PLAY ALONE!!!" Here is a code that needs working on.....This code will allow you to play alone!!!! It's cool only to see Magus in the screen!!! Problem is it freezes during combat. Can someone perfect this code!!! Thank You.... Created by: Pheonix573 EEE3-7765 "DECREASING DAMAGE" For the first few rounds of battle the damage that is dealt to you increasingly goes down. (For instance I was fighting a Laser Guard outside The Black Omen and it zapped Crono, first it did 109 damage then 100 then 75 and so on) then in the later part of the battle it seemed as if the code quit on me and the damage taken started rising again. I`m trying to get it to perfection so that the damage eventually hits 0. DBF3-7765 "STRANGE BATTLES!!!" You and your enemies turn into a jumbo if letters and numbers and all that. But, the good part about this code is that sometimes you win/lose a battle automaticaly. One flaw that I have found is that Techs do no damage. It says they do their normal damage. But, they don`t... Another flaw is you lose automatically more than you win automatically. Created by: SirGarland A523-7765 "ASSORTED DAMAGE" Sometimes you take 0, sometimes you take normal amounts, Ignore disappearing characters... 3E6F-5767 "CAN'T MOVE DOWN" Can't move down. Try to edit it to get it so that you can walk-through-walls in a down direction... EE6F-D767 "PENDULUM SCREEN NEVER ENDS!!!" Created by: Great Wyrm I have gotten an infinite MP code for the 3rd slot, finally! Here are the codes for infinite MP, remember they only work in battle mode: 9DA6-7765 "1ST CHARCTER INFINITE M.P." 9DAB-7765 "2ND CHARACTER INFINITE M.P." 9DA8-77D5 "3RD CHARACTER INFINITE M.P." Created by: Lord Magus AA34-7765 "GET ZERO DAMAGE!!!" Created by: ChronoT500 B023-7765 "IMMUNE TO SOME ATTACKS AND SPELLS" Hallation, Some spells, and Critical Attacks do little or no damage. 6623-7765 Enemies do 1 damage except Hallation, Normal Attacks do nothing, Critical Attacks do 2 damage. EE23-7765 "ENEMIES CAN BARELY HURT YOU" Enemies can do no damage, Critical Attacks do no damage, and Everything else does 1 damage. 2223-7765 "ERASES 2ND SAVE GAME; ALL INVINCIBLE" Erases 2nd Save game and All are invincible. Note: These codes are not fully tested. May produce different results depending on the Situation. Created by: TMSLGS B434-7765 "INVINCIBILITY 1" Invincible!!! But, you have to run away after hidden enemies hit you. B424-7765 "INVINCIBILITY 2" It will make you invinsible but if a monster can throw you then then if it does you stay there. You might get stuck. 1438-7765 "INVINCIBILITY 3" It will make you invincible and if a monster hits you they all die!! Created by: Whrek A1EE-EFD9 "LEVEL 99 CODE!!!" Get ready to tape your turbo - A button down. It says you get the normal amount of experience points, but you and all in you immediate party go to level 99!!!!!! I suggest you save your tabs until after you do this so you can fill in what else you need done to your guys. Created by: Sabin956 FC23-7D65 "EVERY HIT KILLS, THIS INCLUDES YOU...." EEC4-7DD5 "ENEMIES WON'T HIT YOU UNLESS VERY CLOSE!!!" Created by: LuKaSX 2AB4-77DD "TELEPORTER" To use this code, enter any area and walk around in circles and such with any character. Eventually you will be transported to a random area, event, or ending. Sometimes you will be transported to a random area where you can't move (glitch). You should use this code with the WTW code (EEB0-EFA4, created by: LuKaSX@aol.com) in case you get stuck when you change screens. xx81-7769 "CHANGE STATS AND ITEMS" Fill in xx with any 2 digits. Then go into battle. After the battle (game may freeze) go into the menu screen. Your characters will have different stats and items. This code not fully tested. May erase saves. Use at your own risk!! 00BF-ED6C "STRANGE MENU SCREEN" Does really strange things to the menu screen. 7E66-7FAD "RELOAD SAVES" Leave the GG off until you are on the map screen. Turn on the GG on and enter an area. Your saved games menu will pop up. Turn off the GG and select any save to play. 1981-E46F "WHO'LL YOU REPLACE?" Instead of getting the saved game screen after the title screen, you will get the character exchange menu with many level 0 Crono's. Strangely, there will be 6 character slots on the right (scroll down) instead of 4, for a total of 9 slots. Could there be 2 more secret characters? "START WITH CODES" These codes are for Lucca. You must start a new game and play to the point where you get her for them to work. Credit and thanks goes out to TheSpook@nfinity.com for creating the original codes. xx6A-745D Enter before Lucca joins, replacing xx with one of the following to place that item in her weapon slot. xx6A-7FED Enter before Lucca joins, replacing xx with one of the following to place that item in her helm slot. xx6A-747D Enter before Lucca joins, replacing xx with one of the following to place that item in her armor slot. xx6A-748D Enter before Lucca joins, replacing xx with one of the following to place that item in her accessory slot. The screen is now messed up. 9DB3-7765: "BATTLE GOES HAYWIRE" Get into a battle and put your controller down. The game goes haywire they pick things without you telling it. If you want to take back control turn the GG off. 9DB5-7765: "MORE WEIRD BATTLES" In battle it looks like it crashes but just press A. When you use an Attack, it looks like you glide and when you do a Tech you don't move your arms. Your charcters don't do the victory dance. Game may freeze sometimes. 0023-77A5: "REPEATING DAMAGE" Makes damage repeat. Turn GG off after 3 times or it may crash. This works on the demo too. It might crash any way. This seems to work on only some versions. 5444-54D8: "PURPLE TEXT ON MAP SCREEN" 0444-54D8: "ORANGE TEXT ON MAP SCREEN" 3EBF-5767: "TRANSPORTER" Go into a town or someplace and leave. You will be transported to a diffrent part of the map. Only problem is sometimes it puts you some where you are not supposed to go and you can not move. MAGIC DEFENSE" --------------------- | PART C : CT VERSION | --------------------- If these codes do not work or give a different effect, you probably have a different version of the game. You can get these codes to work, but you will have to change the code. The method here may or may not work. Change the 4th character in the code (123*-5678) to any other letter/number. Try all letters/numbers. You will, of course, have to go into the game each time you change the code to see if you got the effect. If that doesn't work, change the 7th character (1234-56*8) to any other letter/number. The most common characters in the 7th position are 0, D, 6 and A so try those first. After you change the 7th position character you will need to try all letters/numbers in the 4th position again. ---------------------------------- | PART D : CT GG PROGRAMMING HINTS | ---------------------------------- Here are a few useful tips if you want to make CT Game Genie codes of your own! Position 5 - (1234-*678) - Only E, 7, D and 5 seem to work here. Position 6 - (1234-5*78) - Only D, F, 4 and 7 seem to work here. Position 7 - (1234-56*8) - Can be any character depending on the situation. The most common are 0, D 6 and A. Postion 8 - (1234-567*) - Can be any character. D, F, 4 and 7 - Affects areas and characters. 0, 9, 1 and 5 - Affects battles. 6, B and A - Affects map and menu screen. E, A, 2, 3 and C - Effects music, title screen and? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 5 - Credits ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Thanks to the following people: AL987654 - Walkthrough and Misc.
